What refrigeration do you need for a marquee event in Peterborough?
A marquee has no built-in cold storage, so any event with food or drink needs a reliable refrigeration plan. Our refrigerated and freezer trailers sit alongside or behind the marquee and give caterers and bar staff walk-in-level cold storage that holds temperature even in midsummer. Every trailer is GPS-tracked and runs quietly, so it will not disturb speeches or music.
For bar areas or front-of-house display, we also hire individual units that plug into a standard 240V socket — no special installation and no engineer needed:
- Double-door display fridge — holds up to 1,584 x 330 ml cans, 1,008 x 500 ml cans or 720 bottles, with a lit interior and adjustable shelving
- Single-door bottle fridge — holds up to 441 x 330 ml cans, 308 x 500 ml cans, 272 x 330 ml bottles or 238 x 500 ml bottles
- Back bar bottle cooler — counter-height unit with twin sliding glass doors, holding up to 276 x 330 ml cans, 188 x 500 ml cans or 143 bottles
- Small and medium chest freezers — ideal for ice, ice cream or frozen canapés
You can hire a trailer on its own, a combination of plug-in units, or both together — whatever your marquee event requires. Visit our display fridge and chest freezer hire page for more on the standalone units.
Why marquee hire companies in Peterborough choose Chilled Down
Peterborough sits on the western edge of Norfolk, close to the Cambridgeshire border, and many national hire firms treat it as a grey area between regions. Because our depot is at Fundenhall near Norwich, we cover Peterborough and the surrounding villages as part of our normal delivery run — meaning your trailer or fridge arrives on time, fully charged and ready to go.
We are a family-run business, so you speak to the same people from your first enquiry through to collection. We deliver, position the unit where your marquee company or caterer needs it, and collect it once the event is over. If conditions change — a heatwave forecast or a last-minute guest-list increase — we can usually arrange additional kit at short notice.
Areas around Peterborough we cover
As well as Peterborough itself, we regularly deliver to marquee events across the surrounding area, including Wisbech, Downham Market, Swaffham, Thetford, Diss and King’s Lynn. We cover the whole of Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and the wider East Anglia region, so if your venue is nearby we can almost certainly help. See our main marquee hire companies page for a fuller picture of how we work with marquee firms across the region.
Frequently asked questions
Can you deliver a fridge trailer directly to a marquee site in Peterborough?
Yes. We deliver to any accessible venue in and around Peterborough, Norfolk. We position the trailer where your marquee company or caterer needs it and collect it after the event.
Do the display fridges and bottle coolers need a generator?
No. All of our display fridges, bottle coolers and chest freezers run from a standard 240V socket, so they work anywhere with a domestic power supply or a marquee power distribution board.
How far in advance should I book for a marquee event?
We recommend getting in touch as early as possible, particularly for summer weekends and bank holidays when demand is highest. Contact us with your event date and we will confirm availability straight away.
Can I hire a trailer and standalone units together?
Absolutely. Many marquee events combine a refrigerated trailer for bulk catering storage with display fridges or bottle coolers at the bar. We deliver everything in one trip and tailor the package to your event.
